ATM - Visualizing all optical switching via femtosecond Faraday microscopy
We offer a one day laboratory course on all optical switching (AOS) of ferrimagnetic magnetic materials. After an introduction into literature on AOS including recent new experimental and theoretical developments, we will explain details of our Faraday microscopy setup and show how to extract an observable proportional to the magnetization.
In the laboratory, participants will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience in the pump-probe setup and measure the ultrafast evolution of the magnetization reversal in a GdFe alloy on a femtosecond time and sub micrometer spatial scale. Please contact us, if you wish to bring your own samples!
